Hello guys. It has been many many years since I posted here. Still have my 2004 E500 and it is still my favourite car and my almost daily driver.

My xenon headlights were getting dim, so much so that they less bright than the fog lights. I had a mechanic replace the ballasts and it fixed the issue. To do this he had to take off the front bumper.

When I got the car back my SBC pump went from making a little bit of noise when I would open the door/truck or unlock the car to a 30 second sound and vibration that was shocking.

When I am on the highway and come to an aggressive stop (100km to 0km) the pump comes on and vibrates the whole car. It is a strange sensation.

Any idea what is happening? What could cause it to do this suddenly? The shop that changed my ballasts is my brothers shop and they have no idea what could cause it and they don't have the full Star systems to work on the SBC module.

Also, I remember they extended the warranty on this. Is a 2004 SBC module still under warranty?

Warranty is now 25 years and unlimited mileage.

I noticed more noise from mine since the dealer flushed the brakes. The noise is louder than my diesel engine when running. My 05 e320 CDI has the original SBC, with almost 200K miles. Wondering if this is a warning of pending failure?

Check the rubber bushings the SBC unit sits on. They may be perished or missing.
