Star Diagnostics required for Bi-xenon ballast swap on W211?

Hi,

I have a malfunctioning Bi-xenon on my 2008 E300 (W211) that may require replacing the ballast. I've found one seller on Ebay offering a compatible Hella: 5DC 009 060-00 unit but with the following disclaimer in the body of the ad:
Important!
For putting the ballast into service it is necessary to install software and afterwards carry out coding by an appropriate diagnostic tester.
In this case, please contact the relevant Official dealer.

Note:
Experience has shown that in most cases you can avoid reprogramming if you swap both sides at the same time.
Is this the case? Will I need to visit a dealership to run these diagnostics if I swap the module? I've not read about this experience in any thread in this forum; many seem to just swap the ballast without issue.

Ballasts are plug and play! No need for coding.
