Looking into a parts car?

So a couple months ago I purchased an '08 E350 as a project car. It came with a wide variety of challenges the majority of which have been fixed. the final repairs needed (aside from cosmetic) are a new transfer case and new front and rear differentials. My original plans were to buy a rebuild kit for each of the differentials and hope to find a transfercase off of a parts car. but while looking for the transfer case I noticed the price to just buy an entire parts car isn't as high as I would've thought so I'm starting to lean toward that idea, I was wondering if parts such as the transfercase and differentials on a newer model 2011-2014 would be compatible on my 2008? I feel like this is a stupid question but I had already planned to change hood fenders bumper and headlights to a post 2011 look anyway and if the parts would work buying a newer model parts car would save alot of time and searching. Thanks!

2008 E350 4Matic, 2011 E350 4matic
I don't think you're even close. The W211 was 2003-2009. There was a face lift in 2006 but the interior didn't change til 2007. In general, there are probably minor changes in every year. The major one for you would be that the 2008 was a 5 speed transmission, the 2010+ went to a 7 speed for the 4matic. So not even close and it's a completely different platform, W212 instead of W211. I think W212 is actually longer than W211 so I doubt your plans of switching fenders would work either. They're a completely different body style.

Your car is a W211 model and you want to change the "hood fenders bumper and headlights to a post 2011 look"? That "post 2011 look" is a W212 model. Something tells me this won't be a simple bolt on upgrade.
