Odd battery issue while driving?!

Hope you guys can help me out with this one. Started my car today and battery was full voltage. Drove about 5 minutes and suddenly radio turns off, as well as AC, and I got the "convenience features temporarily unavailable" indicating low battery.

How could my battery drop like that? Is that necessarily a bad alternator? My plan is to monitor voltage on the dash next time I drive; I had to park my mercedes and take the civic on my road trip. And of course my I heard about it the whole trip from my wife...

Aside from alternator, could it be something else. Note I believe I have had a parasitic battery issue lately, and my battery voltage has been going up to 14.2v while driving??

The system is crazy oversensitive and lot of things can trigger such message.
I had it for a week during my vacation, when ScanGauge was always showing close to 14V in the car.
Only full inspection back home found that the battery clamp did not have bolt torqued enough

I see, and actually I do have a bunch of aftermarket stuff connected to my battery. How "loose" were your battery terminal connection bolts that caused your issue?

If the quality of the connection to the battery causes even only a volt or two to be lost, your car won't like it. Clean and tight enough so you can't move anything by hand. Did I mention clean? A clean connection is a happy connection. A loose connection will arc and get dirty quickly.

Clamp was sitting on the post solid, so starting the engine was never an issue. And again- in week of vacations I start the engine multiple times, when the convenience items were coming and going.
Getting cabin fan going off at 100F is hard to bear.
