Damn misfire
New to group and would appreciate any help, i have a bad mis-fire.
Here are some details that you may need to help me, apologizes for this long first post.
Model: 2004 E200 1.8 Kompressor Auto W211
About a year and a half ago i had to replace my engine as the timing chain jumped. Was driving pefect for about 3000 miles and then one lunch time i started it up and there was a horrible noise from the engine. I put the OBD2 on it and it said misfire in cylinder 3 and something about fuel. Cant remember what that last code was as it was a while ago now. The car drove fine but it was a bit loud at start up.Basically I have checked as much as I know about and still have not found an issue.
I carried out a few checks as listed below.
I have checked static timing, all good.
I have checked compression in all cylinders and they are in between 165 -175 Psi.
I have cleaned the MAF.
Changed the cam solenoids.
I have checked all coils, moved them around and pulled the plugs when car is running to here a rev drop.
Checked all spark plugs.
Checked for a torn tube under the air box and at the back of the air box, have not pulled out Kompressor yet to examine that pipe but the one in front was a new one and I can’t see evidence of a tear in the one under the Kompressor.
I have WD40'ed the engine bay thoroughly and cannot find any air leaks,
What have I missed???
Just to say the misfire is not as evident when I start up the car after leaving it sit a day or 2 but when it idles a while it sound like I have left a spanner in the engine.I have a icarsoft scanner, is there anything I can do with this to determine through live data what the issue is.
I have used this to pull codes and have seen many and cleared them but the latest ones are P201A-000, p200B-000 & p2042-000. I have now cleared them the car sounds terrible but the codes have not yet come back after a few short drives.
Using the icarsoft MBII i have pulled the following data at idle:
Ignition timing advance for #1 cylinder: Flucting from -4.0 to + 13.5 and everything in between.
Mass air flow sensor: Flucting from 3.95 – 6.59.
Oxygen sensor: Flucting from 0.435 – 0.44.
Short term fuel trim(B1-S2) : 99.2%.
Oxygen sensor voltage : 1.498V.
Long term fuel trim – Bank 1: 0.0%.
Thanks for taking the time to at least read my long post and hopefully someone can help me out.
