dead battery, can't open trunk
While I was trying to fix other things the battery died. How do I open the trunk now? I can't turn the key in the ignition even to the first position.
1) Replaced batteries in Remote key. Nothing.
2) Tried to open trunk using a switch on the driver's door. Nothing.
3) Tried opening trunk with flat spare key. The key turns about 90 degrees, a bit more, but nothing happens. Tried pushing the trunk open button while turning key. Did not help.
4) Searched for the second battery under air intake. No battery. No visible terminals to connect to.
5) Searched for the second battery under passenger floor mat. See photo. I am not sure what I am looking at, but does not look like battery.
6) Opened the fuse box. Is the far-right nut positive +12V? Measured voltage to the nut (near the strut mount), got about 2V.
7) I can't seem to be able to fold rear seats from the inside.
I have a low current battery maintainer and spare 12V batteries, but I don't know how to hook them up so I don't damage electronics.
I am also surprised that I can't open the trunk with spare flat key. How come?
Also, I don't necessarily need to start the car now, just enough power to open the trunk.
Please help.
Can I connect a battery maintainer to the far-right nut (positive), next to red wire with the tag, and negative to the nut next to 3 nuts holding the driver-side strut?
Is there anything here I can use to provide enough juice for the trunk to open?
