4th week with new 05 E320 CDI
Hi all,
Wanted to give you an updtae on my baby:
1. Amazing car. I am still learning all the things it does. It really does help to read the manual and learn from this forum.
2. mileage improving w/ every day. I now have 1400 miles. I am averaging city 29 mpg and highway 34. Mixed 50/50 getting approx 31mpg.
3. No problems yet (knock on wood) howvere I do have a squeeky drivers seat. Will get that looked at next service.
4. This car feels and drives better at speeds over 80mph. Big problem for me :v
5. Ventilated seats especially here in Texas are a must. Dynamic seats are also very cool. Provide very good support esp. w/ tight turns. Comand is cool. Logic 7 sounds fanatstic. I have not had any issues as previously stated on this board. It's plently loud ( I thought music was to be appreciated and not to rip apart your eardrums) and no static.
6. Used Klasse AIO and SG. Holy smokes! Especially on a black car, the results are fantastic. I will post pics asap w/ digicam.
7. I like the diesel sound. It has a pleasing "growl" to it and I do not find that it is intrusive into the cabin. I am hoping that diesels take off again in the US as it was so popular in the late 70's and 80's. My only hope that ULSD is available sooner. I don't know if the "premium
" diesel fuel are the same thing. I also like the fact that off warranty I could probably run Biodiesel if and when appropriate. Now that is much better than any hybrid car. MB quality, class and longevity!
Ok, that's it. 4th week report . Summary: GET IT! DRIVE IT! HAPPY MOTORING!

Glad you're still enjoying the ride. Since we see many complaints on the Forum, it's almost refreshing to see someone rejoicing in their experience.
I got my hands on my new E320 approx. 8 days ago. The day after we got it, the wife & I visited family about 130 mi away, and then BBQ'd w/ friends about 50 mi away. Needless to say I will cross the 1000 mile barrier this week. Dayum! The car gets its rest during the work week since it only sees the train station lot 1 mile away.

Btw. - my E220CDI is almost perfect. One small problem with the COMAND ejecting the disk every other start so you end up listening to track #1 a lot And the easy exit feature broke after the 5th time or so... not working anymore and every 4-8 starts the stearing wheel gets pulled up although I switched this feature off. Will have that checked on the next service.
So far best car for the money I ever had, and was lucky to get it after all major problems with the early models were solved and before the decontenting (which will cost MB a lot of customers - I will be one of them) started.
But once again... great car and diesel rocks! The torque at low rpm... and all that at 36mpg

Heh, Heh, Heh... NO ONE'S going anywhere. Fact is, there is no competition in this CLASS of automobile. There IS competition if you compare cars in this price range... but we are of a breed that did not choose this car because of its price, eh?
