Gas smell and no resolution by dealer TWICE
Hi all. I have a 2009 E550 RWD. I took it into the dealer a couple of months ago for a gas smell issue and my SA(Service Advisor) said "they found no gas leaks". I showed him the "warranty" paper as per Mercedes Benz had extended all gas tank components to 15 years/unlimited mileage. Anyways, I took the car home and all was good till yesterday. I filled up the car, (did NOT top off), and started driving to school. Had some errands to run that involved lots of stop and go traffic, especially in Orlando, FL area. Stopped for food pickup and when I came out, I smelled a huge gas odor but thought it was maybe someone else's car. Anyway, pull into the garage and go inside. When I return to the garage it reeks of gas smell. I immediately drove to my local dealer and told the same SA that I had gas leak smell AGAIN. I get a call this morning from my service advisor saying "they checked everything i.e. all the hoses, front of engine, etc. and they couldn't find the leak". What should I do? I don't want this problem to come up again with no resolution.
I've read other posts that their dealer just simply replaced the entire gas tank just to be sure, as it was under warranty. What are your experiences?

The gas smell is from gas pooling on top of the gas tank. Have them remove the back seat and check the top of the tank. Fill it up before you get there. Only happens with a full tank.
