ESP inoperative

I have a 2008 E350 4Matic Wagon. I get the message "ESP inoperative - see operator's manual". I used a scanner to get the following codes:

I get other codes too, but those are related to the transmission control module etc. and hence I am not posting those here.

I have heard that the ESP inoperative could be due to a variety of reasons. Brake light switch and steering angle sensor are just two out of those. In my case, any idea which one is causing the ESP inoperative?

tbh it looks as though to me that the brake light switch failure has consequently triggered the distronic fault as the system cant use cruise control while the switch failure is present.

So is the distronic fault related to cruise control? If so, that would be good news since I wouldn't have to deal with a separate problem once I replace the brake light switch (I just ordered the switch).

I'd say so as the distronic cruise control not only relies on your input to activate cruise but it also relies on your input for when you want the cruise to stop ie. pressing brake pedal when your coming too close to the car ahead of you
If the brake light switch is faulty to begin with, it wont recognise your input of the brake pedal therefor if the error is there it will deactivate distronic and leave a fault code for it
the esp light is active as to warn the average consumer that there is something wrong in that system and its best to get it checked out

Pretty much any time you have an ESP fault, cruise control won't work even if the fault is due to a faulty steering angle sensor. Clear the ESP error and the cruise control should work again. Brake lamp switch and steering angle sensor are two common causes, others would be bad wheel speed sensor. But it's clear on the scan that it's a bad brake light switch. Cheapest fix out there for this kind of error.
