07 E63
P0415 code

My check engine light just came on (07 E63) and the error code scan is P0415. I was told it is a Secondary air injection system fault. I checked all my fuses and cleaned the MAF sensors and air filters, but the light is still on. Any suggestions? Maybe a bad air pump? The car has a ROW intake mod with K&N filters and a resonator delete.. would that have something to do with it? I read somewhere on this forum that it can be triggered by cold weather or short drives which would make sense in my situation since I live 5 miles from work and it is now cold in STL. Thanks for the help.

Remove pump visually inspect, and test it to see if it spins and blows air. Replacement part # is 0001405785. BTW, should be posting here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg-81/

Sorry for posting in the wrong area. Really appreciate the help. I'll try to remove the pump myself. I had a c55 a few years back and the pump was right on top but I don't see it in the same location on the E63. Do you know where it's located?

Secondary air is the name given to the system that runs for about 30 seconds after a cold start and which blows air into the exhaust manifolds to burn any unburned fuel there. Cold engine needs to run rich, and this could create unburned fuel in exhaust ... which is pollution.

Any code related to this is caused by failure of the blower fan or possibly a valve in the plumbing. MAF or air filters are not related.

So, I started the car after work last night and no more engine light. This is roughly 55 miles from the time I cleaned the MAF and air filters. Guess it's just coincidence since this shouldn't be related to the air injection pump code. I had planned on working on the car this weekend (checking pump, etc) but now I'm thinking I shouldn't mess with it. Others have said to turn it off via star. Anyone have instructions on how to do this (in case the light comes back)?
