Power steering Is acting up
Hello,
Hope you guys are doing great!
I own a W211 2003 model, it always felt like its steering is heavier than most cars, it feels like I need to flex a muscle to turn the wheel at standstill but it “okay” while at speeds
I was just diagnosed with a failed power steering pump and the indie said the fluid was very dark. We were then able to get another used pump with warranty, so we replaced it and changed the power steering fluid in the reservoir and tested the car.
It does feel slightly better than before, but still not so easy to turn at standstill.
Did anyone have a similar experience or has any suggestions to help further diagnose the issue ?

It is a Benz, they have always had a heavier steering feel compared to other cars. If you are coming from a Honda or Toyota, or a late 90s GM full size car, all of those have very easy steering. But if you feel it is excessive, you might try to drive another W211 to compare.

It is a Benz, they have always had a heavier steering feel compared to other cars. If you are coming from a Honda or Toyota, or a late 90s GM full size car, all of those have very easy steering. But if you feel it is excessive, you might try to drive another W211 to compare.
I did try another W211 E500 and felt more like my W212 though
I just suspect the steering column joint but thought someone on the form might have an experience on what might be common to fail on this model
