Thank you for all the kind comments, you are welcome. I have put my initial impressions on another thread about taking the delivery.
Karl, you may like Avantgarde lights, they look slightly different when looking more or less close at the them. They employ diods, as opposed to conventional lamps on Elegance/Classic.
Any 3 box design car has a boot, a bonnet and a passenger cell, they can't be that different. Uniqueness comes from the way these parts are blended with each other, the proportions, wheel design, lights design, etc. I think Mercedes did an excellent job on new E, it is very sleek and elegant. I am really glad they kept 4 oval separate headlights, also rear lights are like on SL, on the bootlid they are triangular, but on the sides they are curved like on SL, not triangular like on C and S. Do you see the difference? These solutions distinguishe the car from other MB line up and it doesn't look like a scaled up C or a scaled down S, it is independent.
Sean, I absolutely LOVE the wheels too, they are both beautiful as stand alone items and they suit the car too. These are 8J x 17, as opposed to standard ones 7.5J x 16.
Well, it's a photograph, so it's not just the car itself what matters, but the views too.

Sean the ones for the front are on the top of the dashboard in the middle, under the windshield. The rear ones are on the ceiling, just before the rear window, you see it in the rear view mirror when reversing and looking in it. Isn't it the same in other Benzes?
Also I realized yesterday that they work not only back/front, but also right/left, so you know which side of the car the obstacle is on. This is excellent. There are like 6 or 7 yellow lights, I am not sure from which distance they start igniting on, when all of them are ignited, there is a permanent warning tone and further 3 or 4 red lights start indicating the distance.

2000 E430 Desert Silver
Hi guys,
I am a new member. Thanks for the nice pictures.
I am not sure if I like the new E ! Of course, it looks more modern but less original than the current version.
You want Math ? Here's my formula:
The front is a combination of the current E and (guess what) the Lexus GS300 ! The GS300 looks ugly ....
And believe or not the rear looks like the S Benz + Ford Taurus (another ugly one).
The only thing impressed me is the interior. There's no question about that. I guess they did a very good job.
Can you imagine if the E211 is the current CL with 4 doors....
So, I really love my current E430. Its classic look will easily last for another 7 years. And then I may look for the E212......
Can you imagine if the E211 was the current CL with 4 doors.... it would be a perfect E211...
