E350 PZEV 2007 fuel tank

Does any body know the removal procedure, just got a e350 with a bad fuel pump. Does anybody have the removal installation procedure? Also is there any conversion to a regular tank anywhere?

You can get a copy of the Mercedes WIS which is the workshop manuals that the dealers use on eBay for about $8. The Pzev should have a 15 year/150k warranty unless you're beyond that on mileage or it was bought in a non Pzev state. The fuel pump might be covered, you just have to read the warranty booklet.

Unfortunately, mileage disqualifies MB Emission warranty. Although complete fuel tank replacement is required to meet PZEV attempt to replace fuel pump separately, current part # 2114701494 + 2114710141 bracket.

I'm not sure we have enough time to go over all the known problems. What's the VIN? The biggest known problem is the balance shaft, that affected all 2006 models and some early 2007 models. Not sure if yours is affected without the vin, but maybe you got lucky and it was repaired at one point. Let's see, some basics would be the intake manifold can go bad, lots of standard maintenance stuff like engine sensors, thermostat, pulleys, suspension stuff like struts/shocks/springs, ball joints, control arms, tie rods, cv joints. Then you have possible transmission problems like conductor plate/connector depending on if you have the 5 speed or 7 speed transmission, etc. Then let's not even mention potential EIS, steering angle sensors, trunk wiring, keyless go problems, sunroof recall and you already know about the extended warranty on the fuel tank leaking, but it doesn't cover Pzev cars. Of course with a car at that mileage, lots of these issues might already have been addressed, you just need to check the maintenance records if you have any. Of course it's not as bad as it seems, you might only encounter a small percentage of those mentioned problems during your ownership, it's not guaranteed that everyone will encounter all those problems.

I second lululu's reply. I just did this on an 08 E350 that fell into my lap in December. I know the tank is EXPENSIVE but don't buy a used tank. You don't know how long its been sitting dry and you don't want to do it again. I paid $1,575 for the tank at Mercedes of Anaheim which included my wholesale discount. Otherwise it was $2,200. No core charge.

Try to be diligent with your fuel top-up too. These pumps come with the whole tank so try to baby them as much as possible. Don't let the fuel go below 1/4 tank so that way it will never have a chance to run dry or get too hot. Just my 2 cents. I plan to keep the car until the wheels fall off so I want to baby my new fuel pump for as long as it can go.
