I disagree. Just because a particular vehicle may not be considered an exotic or even fast, you can certainly be passionate about it. Just as anything else, passion about an automobile is in the eye of the beholder.

When I was 18 and bought my first car, a VW Scirrocco, I loved that thing (all 76 hp).

A Scirrocco (I had an '82), a CRX, a GTI (early models)...all can invoke passion. Just not a Civic, a Camry, an LS430, an A6, or an E320.

Your 993 can invoke passion (actually, love it or hate it, it would be hard not to), but not your MDX.

Could an E-class invoke passion? Possibly. I never really understood passion from bling.

However you could configure an E-class to rock your soul. Just not an E320 CDI. Its a nice car. But its your sister!

I have the swiffer, too.

DUDE WHY ARE YOU BUYING ONE THEN?!?!!!!

I honestly tend to agree w/you a little after owning a sportier car than the e-class, but I sitll love my 320 just as much as the day I got it!!! I was obsessed with my '84 300D the whole time I had it and kept (and still do, actually) it in tip top shape. A car doesn't need to be fast for you to love it, but I sort of see where you're coming from, bcs the E class IS kind of a boring car, relatively speaking...

Why am I buying? Because I am not looking for passion on the way home from work at 10pm. Or on a trip to my mother-in-law. Or sister-in-law.

At those times I am looking for a peaceful, comfortable ride. Like my mother's tuna casserole. Now I like my mother's casserole. And I love my mother. But passion? No, I don't think so.

All relative in my opinion. Everyone has passion for different things. Music might do it for some, cooking for others, art for others, cars and certain types of cars for others. I think that everyone who owns a W211 and visits this thread (W211 as a whole) on a regular basis shares a certain degree of passion for the benzy otherwise why would they regularly participate???

Benzboy, I was positive that I was the only one who did this. I have to admit that I make sure no one is watching first.

That's it, I'm going out and get some of those cloths right now! If three people have already attested to them, they must be good

I have swifters in every car! Ok, not it the truck or the race car.

I just don't think passion is the right word to describe interest in a car phone or valet lockable trunk!

As mentioned, I think that different people view passions differently. Since you race cars, at such speeds and thrill you experience (I'm sure it must be such an adrenaline rush (I know I would!!)), it may be hard for you to find passion in a what some would consider a fairly regular automobile. Others, however, may not have the same threshold, perhaps even because they haven't experienced it on such a level.

I KNOW I am passionate about golf. If I don't play at least once a week, I get so antsy. At least that's what I tell my wife so she lets me go play

David - hate to disagree with a fellow W211/S2000 owner - but I could get passionate about an engine swapped Civic CRX. I'd love one for a track beater.

We are not disagreeing. A CRX is a really passionate car. I've thought about getting one several times.

Let's not confuse passion with affection.

Let's face it, we're in bad shape! Perhaps a chapter of "Benzaholics Anonymous" is forming here. "Hi my name is Benzboy and I'm a Benzaholic". After that all is forgiven...
