No.

And "plug and play" refers to computer devices that never do.

Aux is not included in the 03' even with the HK upgrade. We are stuck with FM modulation or a tape deck(which we have) adaptor.

You're not "stuck" with it.

My 2003 car has been upgraded to include auxiliary input in the glovebox.

2003 211s don't get STUCK with anything...I have seen lots of 2003 W211s with comand...AUX input...TV...DVD playback...SAT radio...owning a 2003 W211 does not mean that you get STUCK with the no-good-for-nothing audio 50.

I've had two 2003 E-500's with the HK audio and both had the Aux input so I believe you are correct. It's a nice feature and I use it with my iPod every day. SUPER sound!!

Nope, aux requires COMAND. Only cars with COMAND have aux. Car with aux have COMAND.

scorchie how did you add an AUX if you didn't have command on the HK? What is the cost and what parts are needed?

Hello,

I know this an old thread but I was hoping someone could shed some light. I have a 2003 E55 with HK sound and also have the Audio 50 without an aux input. I have been using the tape adapter to listen to my Sirius for a couple years. The sound is okay, but I would like to have a 3.5mm aux adapter. Which comand h/u is compatible with my 2003 with changer and H/K sound? Does anything need to be programmed by the dealer or is it a straight head unit swap?

Thanks,
Steve

Sad to say this thread still hasn't been updated to shed light on how the 2003 W211 owner can update his/her sound system to provide an aux plugin. I'm guessing it involves pirating one of the other modalities (i.e. cd player or fm radio).

I have it, it's at the top of the glove box. I was gonna relocate it to the center console but the mount was too hard to take off and I didn't wanna break it. I'm just gonna order a new wire from Mercedes and connect it to the back of the COMAND and then run it under the center console, drill a hole in the center console and mount the female end. Not sure why they put it in the glove box.

I also have a question. I have a 2004 E500 with the HK upgrade. I can see the place where the AUX should be, but there is not any port there. Is there supposed to be a lid for the port? It looks like it is but it may also be glued in place because of no port installed. Or should I try and pry the lid off?
See very bad photo below.
