Speaker Crackling Question

If my speaker is crackling at high volumes does that mean that it is blown out? If not, what does it mean???

Does it do it on all stations and with any CD. If so, I would suspect a blown speaker. My HK system never crackles and I "crank it up" whenever my wife isn't in the car. She doesn't like it loud. I now use my iPod to play music through the AUX port; however, you lose some max volume capablility when you do this. It is;however, a great way to hear what you like whenever you want and you don't have to mess with changing CD's. I'm very glad to have the AUX input in the glove box, and would like to see them provide a nice mounting system for the iPods in future vehicles.

I have only noticed it with CD's but that is because I typically don't crank the radio. Maybe I should have it looked at if your system doesn't do that...
