Definitely second fiddle to BMW's new 268hp, sequential twin-turbo, 3l 6-cylinder diesel. One thing I've noticed on the new BMW and not mentioned in this article is compression ratio. BMW dropped it to 16:1. Lowering compression ratio does reduce efficency on the power stroke.

FYI, MB's new 3l V6 diesel is 231hp, and the 4l V8 diesel will be around 300hp.

I don't think a 268hp 3 liter diesel is 'messing up'!
