Hood Opens ALL the way, I had no idea!
The hood on these cars can be opened farther but just pressing in the little latch tabs on the hood hinge. Sure wish I knew this several projects ago! I'm sure some of you are already aware of this, but I had no idea and thought I'd share to maybe help a few people from the slamming their head into the grill like I have many times.
I attached a few pictures to show how this works. Happy wrenching!
Normal open.
Here is the latch.....
Press it in....
Say aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Yep, I'm amazed more cars don't have this feature. It's almost as good as not having a hood at all. It's especially excellent if you have over head lights and it now isn't being blocked by the hood being at that 45' angle. The almost 90' degree angle allows overhead lighting to go right on the engine so you can see.

Say “hello” to “service position”.
Newer MBs have no hinge latch and instead use gas struts with a detent which can be pushed through to achieve service position.
