Airmatic - compressor won't run

Hi guys.

Im gonna try my best to describe my problem with my bad english..

I have an 2008 E280 with airmatic, where the strut in front driverside started to leak. Got a new one from arnott and changed this, and the car was ok for 5 days until i got the malfunction with a car and arrow in the cluster, and the car droped down in the next three days.

I thinked it was the compressor that was broken after the leak, and got a new one from arnott today that i installed, but nothing happens.

When i start the car i got the message "please wait, vehicle rising", and after a minute or two, i got the red warning "stop, car too low". The compressor wouldn't start at all, even if i go into star to try something. I can hear all the valves function, and the clicking in the relay.

Now i got an faultcode that says "5508 The pressure line system leak", and if i go into that i got up "B7 Airmatic pressure sensor" that says 6,31 bar.

Is there someone who had the same trouble? Is it the valveblock? Or could it more likely be a broken wire?

Have you checked for cracks in the air lines?

If you have STAR, run the compressor pressurization test. The compressor should start and be able to put out something like 14 Bar in 40 seconds (I may be wrong here but the STAR diagnostic screen tells you what to see). If the compressor won't start, pull the compressor connector and put a multimeter on the line and look for voltage when you activate via STAR. Also, pull the connector at the compressor and the Airmatic control module under the passenger side floorboard. Check for continuity end-to-end and also check to see if the wire is shorted to chassis. I don't know your schematic so search for one on internet or take a look at the wire(s) to the compressor and look for the same wire where it plugs into the airmatic control module.

STAR states specifically for that 5508 code:
-Do not replace control module N51 (the one under the passenger floorboard)
-Check intake system of air system of compressor for clogging
-Pneumatic test of component A9/1 (compressor) ; (if it won't start, see above)
-Check for leaks (Advanced search for user Konigstiger and airmatic leaks will provide you the MB documents to search for leaks)

Haven't cheched the lines for crack, but the compressor should be running anyway? Atleast start to try to pump it up.

I tried the pneumatic test, but the compressor won't starg at all. Tried this on the old compressor before i swapped, but the same happened.

Problem solved!

It was a broken wire ro the compressor relay.
