Adjust front ashtray door

The top edge of the ashtray door is not even with the lower edge of the CD changer cover on my 04 E320. Any clues on how to adjust this so the the edges meet smoothly when the ashtray is closed?

Thanks to the forum for pointing out what the rubber mat was for that was packed with the front license plate mount. That's a really cool replacement for the useless front ashtray. Now if only I had a 12V dummy plug to replace the cigar lighter.

I have this same thing, dealership said that it is the way they all are. One other thing for those picky people like me....your gap between your glovebox and the dashboard is less on the left than the right, looking like a bad fit...also normal, I saw this on other cars...

The dealer replaced my ashytray because of this but no difference was noted. I would still complain as it will give MB the message that they have problems. I also noted/complained about the glove box. I think the term we're searching for here is POOR BUILD QUALITY.
