Hello, i bought new E W211 sedan, prefacelift. I have red battery visit workshop message on dashboard but everything working fine. Battery should be new but i am wondering why is this hose not plugged to the battery (i read someting about new batteries which dont need these hose? ) and dont know why there are spare cables(fuse?) which is in attached picture.. They only flying around .. Can someone help? Thanks

some batteries have a breather hole, others not,now the cables hanging out i can't really say for what it is, the best thing is to see from another car where it is connected

That extra red/black thin line with a fuse inline with the red wire is an addition by the PO. Not OEM. I bet you can poke around under the dash or under the hood and find the other end of it.

Pre facelift cars have additional auxiliary battery at the front of the car. This battery usually dont last as long as the main battery, and cause that red battery message. You need to replace this battery to clear the message

For your battery, I believe the factory was an AGM battery and that doesn't look like the factory battery and it's probably an aftermarket non AGM battery so it doesn't have the vent tube for that tube. The AGM battery should last longer than a regular battery. But nothing to do about that now. Even if the battery dies at one point, it'd be up to you to get another regular battery or get the right AGM one depending on how long you're going to keep the car. Mine is still original and it's 12 years old.
