New E500 trim? When?

Hi All!! I'm new here at the MB Forum. I was considering to buy a 05 E500 in about a month or so. But before buying, can someone tell me when will this current E500 or E300 body will be updated? I thought I read some where that they might update the body in 06.

I just hate buying the last year look. Happen to me twice on buying Vettes. They announce the body change on me one year after buying it. So, I hope to get some of your advices to see if anyone heard when will the E 500 be updated.

Thank a bunch,

John

Rumor is that the next change is due for 06... This will probably only be a "face lift" and the overall apperience will remain the same. This may also apply to the interior as well....
Good luck with your purchase.

Definitely some updates for '06, which may (will probably) be launched between March and July '05. Not that far away.

Also an engine upgrade on the way...I'm not sure when though. The E350 may be a better package than the current E500. Only down 35hp, it will be lighter and more economical.

My $.02 (€.02?)

LOL!! You are close LionHead. I had a 96 LT-4 and a 03 50Anniv C5. Funny how I have the worse luck when it comes to buying a "going to be" outdated model in Vettes. Don't want this to happen to me on a Mercedes. I also heard that the SL500 will be revamped too!! Just a rumor though......

If they are going to update between March and July....does anyone have any spy shots or idea of what will be changed on the 06???

Thanks guys!!

wait for the 06 - the E350 might be enough for you (new 4 valve V6). the 5.0 V8 is on its way out, the new S class will likely get the new V8 first, but it will make its way into this car soon. again, as per to your desire to be "future proof".

2004 E500
I'd like to know more about the upcoming

E350. I've been looking at the E500, but am puzzled as to why it commands so vast a price increase for a bigger motor and a few more features. Any speculation as to performace, etc? When may we expect it?

The price difference between the E320 and the E500 doesn't represent the additional cost of production to DCX. It represents DCX' considered judgment of how much more people will pay for an E500.

In addition to the bigger engine (and the performance that goes with it) you get full leather and the adjustable suspension plus 17" wheels.

All of which are included in the $3960 Appearance Package in addition to bi-xenon lights, and trim changes.

True, however the 4-zone climate control no longer includes the charcoal filter and automatic recirculation (which was standard on an '04 C-Class!)

Ahhhhh......I figured when you said 1 year after your purchase you find the styling change I thought a 95 C4 as the C5s came out late 97. 96 LT-4...nice! I really like the GS (Admiral Blue with white stripe and black rims. ). I'm partial to the C5s though as I had a 98 C5 with Stage II Heads/Cam. I'm thinking of getting a C6 Roadster but not sure if I like the rear end as I think the C5 rear looks better. BTW...are you on the CF?

Johnfan,

I am new to this wonderful forum! Man, I will be giving up my Vette 04 for a E500 Benz 05 at the end of this year...the latest January 05. It will be a better ride, a ride of luxury. Just can't wait!

Morcedes - A 'Vette and an E500 are so different that it's hard to compare them straight up. Your 'Vette is a lot more fun than an E500 will ever be, but the E500 is probably 75% better in luggage capacity and definitely 100% better in rear seat capacity. And so it goes - apples and oranges comparison. One thing's for sure - the E500 doesn't carry all the psychological baggage of a Corvette. About the worst thing anyone can say about you for driving an E500 is that you're flaunting your green, but nobody ever accuses an M-B owner of driving a fiberglass codpiece - unlike the Corvette.

The Vettes these days are made out of composite material. Fiberglass cracks too easily....I know as I bought an ACI Front Spoiler for my C5 and I cracked it twice. You will miss the power of the Vette especially if you mod it (in my case 434HP/456TQ before the ATI D1SC Supercharger down to 302HP/339TQ). I do miss my C5 especially this summer. The E500 is no slouch though (love to squeel the tires from a dead stop ). If luxury is your taste, you won't miss the Vette but if you want performance with luxury, I say get the E55!
