Loose Engine Cover Insulation
Does anybody have a solution for reattaching loose engine cover insulation?
This felt blanket thing looks like it might have been heat welded or maybe ultrasonic welded to the underside of my engine cover. Over the years it has just started pulling away. I would like to reattach it but think that double sticky foam tape or glue might not handle the temps on my 2005 E320 CDI engine cover.

Sorry. Not the hood liner, the liner under the plastic engine cover. Every time I pull the plastic engine cover off, it seems to tear away a little bit more. Now at 15 years old, I have to hold everything together while I replace the cover. Sometimes stuffing it back up in there.

Clean both the engine cover and the foam really well, spray with aerosol 3M contact cement on both surfaces, reapply. Been working for my cover insulation for a couple years now.
