2005 e500 can't scan via obd, need troubleshooting steps for ecu or fusebox/sam
Hello,
I forgot to remove battery connection while pulling out fuse box to get access to the ESP module. I smelt some smoke coming from under the ESP module. I took the ESP module out, the fuse box, and the ecu out to inspect them. I can not see or smell any fire/burning smell from either box after I took them out and no obvious signs as to which box shorted.
Car still starts and drives with check engine light on. I can not connect via obd though, so I can't scan anything although I had a toasted esp module which is the reason I was removing everything anyways. I ordered a replacement esp module , but not sure how to troubleshoot the ecu or fusebox.
Does the fusebox contain a Sam module? If my ecu was fried, my vehicle wouldn't start, right?
