Brake Pad Sensor Replacement

Can any tell me if you have to disconnect the battery on the car to replace the brake pad wear sensor? A friend of mine did the front brakes with a sensor replacement and the car went into limp mode afterwards. But none of the online tutorials I've seen ever mention disconnecting the battery. Do you have to do that?

No need to disconnect battery when replacing the sensor. Not sure what brakes you have but on a 05 W211 with M112, the pad sensors are different between the front left and right side. They have different connectors so it is hard to plug in the wrong one. Trust me, I tried!

Is there any code that pops up? I would double check the sensors are installed correctly. While there, just check to make sure the ABS sensor wasn't damanged.

While it doesn't need to be disconnected just for the sensors, the battery should be disconnected just because the 2005 has SBC and you don't want it to kick on while you're working on the brakes.
