Hello guys, 2 days ago i bought E350 2007 japan version with 137.000 KM. i dont know why but i have very bad gas mileage 16L/100KM, it has only one thing broken (INTAKE MANIFOLD LEVER AIR FLAP RUNNER) so it is easy to replace and how long will it last?
Also i thought mercedes cars were relieble but i found out that m272 has bad balance camshaft and timing chain my cars engine no. is 272964 30 586757. should i worry about that problem? please help. p.s sorry for bad english.

2008 E350 4Matic, 2011 E350 4matic
Normally for the intake manifold, you replace the intake manifold. That's around $650 in the US which is a Pierburg. There are other repair kits you can buy which just fix the lever or rods depending on what's broken, but the flaps eventually break and end up doing engine damage. If you replace the manifold, you should get the same or more miles out of it, I think Pierburg might have changed the design of the flaps so they last longer. From memory, I think you're fine on the engine number but there's a long thread on here about the balance shaft and the exact number is mentioned in that thread, I think it starts with a 4 and yours starts with a 5.

The intake manifold question you already got an answer to. When it comes to the M272 engine the affected models are up to Serial No. 2729..30 468993 so you are good there.
