Hi Everyone I was wondering if anyone has replaced a timing chain tensioner on the M272 engine, there is not much information out there about replacing it. This one video on YouTube explains that you need to hold one of the cam shafts still while rotating the crank but it was very vague.
Holding the camshaft then turning the crank counter clockwise to 100nm is so the tensioner will release , you hold the exhaust camshaft from the rear

Why are you doing this? It's not a normally required repair.
I am doing this since there is a very annoying tick at idle and people are telling me that it sounds like a diesel. But I know what the problem is I just am confused on how to replace it since there is a video on youtube about the M272 timing chain tensioner replacement.

I have to take the head off of the drivers side to replace a broken valve stem . I can’t find the bolt that needs to be taken out ( not talking about the pin that needs to be pulled out) for the timing chain tensioner. Can anyone please help me out ?Originally Posted by mercedesw210amg
