Fault Code Confusion
I am a newbie here and was hoping the more knowledgeable folks here can provide me an opinion.
I have a 2008 E350 with about 49,000 miles on it.
Check engine light is on and a diagnostic from a dealer indicated 2053 - Prem Air Sensor. They quoted me $1,400 to replace. Sounds a bit high for a sensor located on the radiator itself. I think the part is ~$150 bucks. I just cant' believe labor is that much..unless they intend to replace to the radiator as well. Also, when I google fault code 2053, it gives me something totally different from what the diagnostic says.
I am thinking about replacing the sensor myself. Does anyone know if the radiator needs to be removed completely or can I get away with just removing the radiator fan? Any video tutorials?
Other fault code they found was 2225-9085 - right fuel level sensor is outside tolerable range. My fuel gauge is off...sometimes. I just go by mileage for now. This car was purchased in CA and is a PZEZ vehicle. The warranty booklet is pretty vague on what is eligible for emissions warranty in CA, which is 15 years or 150K. The dealer said it's not covered. What I know is that the sensor is located inside the sealed fuel tank and to resolve the issue, I would need to replace the fuel tank....at a whopping $4,500 bucks. I would think that the PZEZ warranty should cover this as the booklet lists: Fuel Metering and Fuel Tank Assembly. Anyone else run into this issue before and was successful in getting the dealer to honor the PZEXZ warranty?
Apologies for the long thread and any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony
