Automatic Trunk Closer Problem
I've posted before that I love the automatic trunk closer--it's a great feature. Today, however, it started acting up. Whereas previously when you presssed the red button to close it, and the motor would take ~3-4 seconds to close, now it slams the trunk closed in a second or less. If you don't stand back, you're likely to lose a few digits!
All other electric/electronic systems functioning normally. Anyone know what could cause this, or even better, how it might be fixed? Wanted to check here before taking it to the dealer.
Thanks,

Had this one myself, I nearly lost an arm the first time it happened!!!! I had to live with it for a while and ended up seeing the funny side!
Turns out it was related to the COMAND system somehow. My dealer re-flashed my COMAND with software and its been working fine since!
Hope this helps!

Were you told it was quite 'armless'

Sorry about that my morphine must be kicking in.
Bye for now,
John
H10LTJ,
Thanks--that is interesting, because I just had my COMAND software reflashed a month ago due to a static issue.
glojo,
Too funny! Also, I've failed to mention that, as something of a weather nut, I've always enjoyed your mini-reports--"sunny Torquay," "windy Torquay," etc.!

I just tried to take a picture from the balcony of our 211 but got 'distracted'.
Apologies for being 'off topic'

Sunny, but slightly cloudy Torquay

Her 'Ladyship' likes to look over the estate (S211)
from a vantage point. It is interesting reading about the 'enthusiastic' closing of the boot lid, because the automatic closing tailgate also shuts what I will politely call firmly.

John,
Is it me or is that a jet with a smoke trail in the middle of your picture of sunny Torquay?
The trunk closing, I'm afraid, has progressed beyond "enthusiastic" and is now downright mercenary.

It definitely is not you. It is actually one aircraft of the RAF Red Arrows display team. When the picture is seen at its proper size the jet can clearly be seen. Our tailgate is just the same, my wife worries about our dogs toes whenever she closes it. I told her that he will just change from a German Shepherd into a corgi.
Bye for now,

Sunny without any clouds,
