trunk no longer opening (using key or inside switch)
hi, all of a sudden my trunk is no longer opening with the key or inside switch. also i'm getting a license plate lights and 3rd brake light not working sign on my main dash.
any clues as to what this might be? the car unlocks and locks fine and drives without issues.

I had that happened along with the brake light nonoperative. I did find two wires are severed what a disappointment how thin and stiff those wires MB are using. no flex or give so I had to repair it and put some kind of connector between them to give some slack.

thanks for all the help. the brown wire was the culprit. one thing to note is that to open the trunk before you begin any work, insert the valet key into the key hole, turn it left and then pull the latch. if the key doesn't turn then spray some wd-40 or pb catalyst to loosen the inside parts.

I had a problem like this except my car kept calling 911. Turns out MB does that when it thinks someone is trying to get out of the trunk while you’re driving. The non-automatic handle wasn’t fully releasing. Causing the auto not to work, causing me to use the handle
more. Causing MB to think someone was locked in my trunk while driving.
