E500 in Delhi, India

I was on vacation in India and stopped for a few days at my cousin's palace in Delhi and he was acquired, at which i was astounded, an E500 and it was a 2004 with a build date of 02/04. The car here would be around 65K with the options he had. He purchased the car with taxes included for 60 lakhs (60,00,000 rupees) which is about $129K if you use the conversion rate of $46.36 to one rupee. I was awesomed by the vehicle when I first saw it but then just by looking at the price, I was even more amazed.

Does it really come out too that much when importing a car like that??!!

Unfortunately yes, most imports have a 100% tax on them.

I'm confused, are you guys in India importing these cars by yourselves or are you buying them from an authorized MB dealership? If so, what are your dealership experiences in India like?

One more Q, does MB have a nav disc for India? I wonder how the Comand Nav would work in places like Mumbai?

As far as all my cousins' imported cars go, they don't have Navs and didn't even look into that option. More or less, my cousins don't even drive these cars as they all have drivers to drive em.

Varun, where are you in India? If you're in Gurgaon, near Delhi, thas where I saw a Maybach 62 (manikchand's) and an 04 Acura TL A-Spec. Wonderin if you're in that are and you seen em too?!

We have family in India that also has a few E classes. They are in Gujarat however. They did import these fine automobiles by themselves.

DaCeptak0n, when you say manikchand, do you mean that guy that makes that stuff? If so WOW, cant believe he has a Maybach 62.

the only bad part is the roads suck in most of the country, not really in delhi, so its hard to use the nice ride of the car. but when you do see a Mercedes in India, it truly looks as if you were looking at a Maybach, because first of all its not white, like all the maruti's, and its of course longer, i got excited when i saw a couple last time i went there. also, this might sounds dumb, but the hut huyundais looks real good there too, not the same models here though, i remember one model looked like the A-class if i remember correctly, it was been 3 years.

It's a lyric by Jay-Z. It means that my brother works his tail off so naturally up next is my turn to hustle or work my *** off for the spoils like he has acquired..

Will cost 10% more if you go and import the car directly, not to mention the hassle you will be facing going through customs. I will be purchasing mine from Tai-Pan in Chandigarh although I heard that the Tai-Pan dealership in Ludhiana is equally good. I just went there once and had a quick chat with the manager and he seemed quite helpful, They usually have a SL, M and S at display.

Jai Hind
Nope, No Nav Disc for India

Nah, Thats a bit far off. I live in Jalandhar, Punjab. There are quite a bit Mercedes in this small city (Around 5~ SL500, 6-10 S, 20+ E Class). I heard Ludhiana Dealership sells about 2 Cars Daily.

Sadly the 110% Custom Duty really disappoints me, I could have got a SL55AMG if it was not for this stupid custom duty.

S, GL, Escalade ESV, my shoes
In Vietnam, a 2004 E240 Elegance (yep, that pipy 6 cyl w/ fancy name) cost $120K USD after tax !!!.

A C240 Avantgarge cost $84K USD !!!

A Toyota Camry 3.0 cost $72K USD.

I guess price of a Benz S320 & BMW 745i would send most of us into cardiac arrest .

I once saw an SL600 in Saigon, wonder how much the dude (young one) paid for it.

The weird thing is: for a country as poor as it is, it's not infrequent that you see these cars on the road, especially in Saigon.
