E320 Scan tool

Ok I need to get a scan tool for my 07 E320 bluetec. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Something fair priced. Something that will read the code and tell what is wrong. Now will any scan tool work on a MB diesel?

Check out the icarsoft mb ll, or mb v2.0. Probably your best bet. I have one, it’s great.

I have icarsoft MB V2.0. It correctly diagnosed a cylinder misfire and steering angle sensor failure for me.

I also use iCarsoft MBII Scanner. Only downside to this scanner is that it reads SRS codes but will not clear them.

Sounds like a great tool and I am just about ready to buy. Now my only other question, will it work on other vehicles? 03 silverado, 17 corvette, 15 golf TDI?
Thank you

Usually limited to one car brand. There's a few others out there, Autel AP200, Autel Diaglink, Thinkcar Pro etc. AP200 is an extra $22 per car brand, diaglink is $10 extra per brand. Thinkcar pro is 5 car makers and $20 per additional car brand.

it will still read basic obd codes on any car, it just won’t be able to do any advanced functions

Ok guys. I plugged a cheap scan tool in that I borrowed from a friend. Code, P0546. Bank 1 sensor 1. This code happened after running down the highway at about 80ish for 10 minutes or so. Should I clear it run the car normal and see what happens? Car runs and sounds normal.

That basically says that the wiring is bad or the cats have been gutted. Normally you'd check the wiring or replace the sensor. Basically it's saying the exhaust temperatures are too high. You need to track down the cause, bad wiring, bad sensor or gutted cats or other exhaust issues.
