Audio Gateway Replacement?
Lately I've been hearing intermittent crackling/popping sounds coming from my tweeters, even at low/moderate volume. After doing some basic diagnostics with the balance/fader and tone controls to try and isolate a possible blown speaker, this is what I found:
-The cracking occurs with the fader in all positions except far back (I don't believe there are tweeters in the rear deck?)
-The crackling occurs with the balance control in any position
-The cracking occurs with the system set to any mode (standard, speech, LOGIC 7). Speech mode causes it to happen the least, LOGIC 7 is the worst.
-The cracking goes away when the treble control is set to -4 or lower, even at higher volume
It sounds awfully like there's an issue with the high frequency crossover. At this point should I be looking to replace my audio gateway?
If I do have to replace my AGW, can I install a used one from a car with the same options without coding, or does it need to be coded to the car no matter what? Is there a newer/improved part number I should be looking for?
