I didn't think you were, I just thought you might have misunderstood me.

Also, this is from the CDI page on MBUSA.com...
**The E320 CDI Sedan does not meet the emissions requirements of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont and is not available in these states.
Its funny, cause you know damn well that people in these states are just coming across state lines and buying one. Especially in NYC.

'Tis true that the CDI is not legally for sale here in California and the four copycat New England states that follow CARBs stupid lead.

Have said that, there are legal ways to buy, own, and drive the E-320 CDIs as well as the various VW diesels here in California.

BMW X5 diesel is not imported....IT IS EXPORTED!!!

BMW diesel X5's are made in Greenville/Spartanburg SC, then loaded onto boats and shipped away.

How ironic that BMW won't sell them here, given they are ALREADY HERE!

How hard could it be to make the speedometer read MPH instead of KM, and maybe a little change or so like a speed limiter to protect the smaller gene pool here from itself, and just start selling!!!

I would have bought a diesel X5 in a heartbeat if it was available now. I've been in the petrol version before, love the looks and has an overall great chassis. Too bad for us here in the states.

RESEARCH

The X5 does have a speedometer that registers mph and indeed has a diesel engine.

I would politely suggest the problem lies elsewhere

Spec of X5 diesel with mph speedometer (steering wheel on the right side)

The new generation of BMW diesel engines have changed expectations of diesel motoring forever. These are the world's first 6-cylinder common-rail diesel engines, featuring high-pressure injection and variable vanes in the turbocharger for increased torque at low engine speeds. Delivering a quite remarkable torque figure of 500Nm at only 2000rpm, the new 3.0 litre diesel accelerates the X5 3.0d from 0-62 mph in 8.3 seconds.
