Cracked Side Mirror

So I was backing out of my car port and clipped my driver side mirror on a support pole, s

hattering the glass and breaking off the plastic chrome piece of the external blinker. The glass stayed in its frame but popped out of whatever clips that were holding it in place. Can I buy just the mirror glass? It's a 2003 E500 with 54k, like new. I'm reasonably skilled and willing to have a go at fixing it if parts can be sourced.

I would check a local junkyard, pick-a-part type of place instead. But regardless of where you get the replacement part, it is super easy to replace it. No need to have a mechanic or bodyshop do it. There are lots of websites that show how to take it apart.

Slide the cover out from the mirror to see the extent of damage (its very easy watch videos on youtube). From your picture which isn't very clear, I see no reason that it can be repaired very cheaply.

So I've learned that this small side mirror can cost $500 for auto-dimming feature or $100 for non auto-dimming. Mine is auto-dimming but not fussy which one I buy. My plan is to source one on-line and fix myself, appears plug-n-play. Update: I apologize for my apparent ignorance with these cars as my last 3 vehicles were Toyota trucks. If you run an internet search for Mercedes E500 side mirror, you get a lot of inexpensive options worth looking closer at. I'll update when I find the one I need.
