Does the W211 have a freeze warning?
The reason I'm asking is that our two BMWs, an '84 3-series and a '97 5-series, both had freeze warnings that would invoke a loud (and startling) "BONG" and a flashing temperature reading at around 34F/1C. The idea was to warn of possible ice on bridges and the like. Not that I expect a Benz to have every characteristic BMW feature, of course. Our E500 doesn't have the quaint BMW analog mileage gauge, either, and that's one BMW thing I don't miss.

I wonder if BMW has the alarm because of black ice. In Germany, there is a frequent phenomenon known as black ice when the temperature is hovering around freezing. If there is dew in the morning or a light drizzle, the moisture will flash freeze when it hits the ground. It's called black ice because you can't see it -- it appears to be either dark pavement or a shallow puddle. If you hit some, you won't stop until it ends, you hit something, or go off the road. I have sometimes seen cars all up and down the autobahn in the ditch where people have hit a patch. It's extremely treacherous.
I'm not aware of an alarm on the W211.
Your team is killing my A's.
