E320 CDI post-wreck code explosion

Last year I had my prized CDI rear-ended (left corner) in front of my home and subsequently posted on here for parts. However, I've decided to see if I can resurrect it, She starts and idles perfectly and after replacing a few fuses, most operations work again. The left rear was smashed and it pinched the wiring harness and caused several fuses to blow, which I replaced after checking the 1)underhood fuses. 2) left side dash fuses) 3) trunk fuses. When I pulled the code reader out there were dozens of problems (see list below) Am guessing there's another wiring harness pinch that is causing these problems, but would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.
  • Keyless Go and remote won't work
  • Revs up freely until I put it in gear and then it barely moves the tach and the car barely moves
  • One of the vacuum fitting broke and I had to plug it until I find a replacement

NO codes other than a glow plug before the accident.

ABS 7 codes
CM 20 codes
OBDII/E0BD 8 codes

wait another year and park the car on the other side of the street and hope you get hit on the opposite side and the faults go away

Well, that IS the path of least resistance. However, I'm hoping someone will know enough about the car to point out something that caused all the codes. Something I overlooked like a wiring harness that I'm not aware of or something common that would cause all those different codes to go off.

Thanks for the thought.

I think you are on the right track when you assumed the cut wires caused the problems. I would look for more cut wires and splice them up cleanly. After all of the time gone by, I would also be wary of dead battery issues and water corrosion problems. I don’t recall the wiring harnesses back there but looking around shouldn’t hurt.

Since many components are communicating on a CanBus, it may not be a fifty wire bundle and instead be a cable of just a few conductors (identified by twisted pairs).

Then if the car runs, maybe take it to the dealer and let them read codes etc. Their system is pretty powerful and many of your codes might be erasable.

Good luck,
Peter
