Looking for tips regarding replacing the rear door.
I am about to replace the driver's side rear door on my 2009 E350. I have a Donor 2008 with a perfect door.
The 2009 is a base model while the donor 2008 has Keyless Go. I will be using the base model's door handle. Will the 2009 car be able to lock and unlock the door from the 2008 once it is installed?
What is the best method of detaching and reattaching the door? It appears I have 3 options: (1) Remove the bolts where the hinges attach to the "B" pillar, (2) Remove the bolts where the hinges attach on the door, or (3) Just remove the hinge pins and lift the door up and off. Is any method better than the other?

It's a breeze. In the picture you posted - the bottom black piece is a plastic cap. One at each hinge - take off those plastic caps and remove the nuts underneath. Remove the bolts at the body for the tension bar. Be careful not to close the door against it, unless it's mounted. You'll damage the body. Remove the ashtray complete assembly and you should be able to disconnect the wires coming into the door to the SAM. Remove the accordion carrying the wires to the door and pull the wires through. Lift off the door. Swap the goods that you're looking to swap and put the new door on the same way and very carefully check for alignment and go from there.
Are there PDFs for the same replacement operation on the front door? I am in the same situation as the OP except needing to replace the front left door on my 2008 E300. I have the donor door but want instructions for the replacement process.
