Glutton for Punishment: Considering a second MB
In 2018 I purchased my neighbors C230K for my daughter to drive as her first car. I too have loved driving it around and we have not had to many issues with it. The front SAM going out was a bit of a PITA. So now, I am looking at two W211 possibilities for my car and would like to see if anyone had any thoughts on which one I should consider. Options are:
2005 E320 4matic Wagon
Current owner has had it for 8 years
200k miles
3rd row seat
Cracked Windshield (Is this an issue? Generally it isn't, but not sure of sensors or anything that could make this costly)
2004 E320 Sedan
Original Owner
169K miles
Sports Package, Appearance Package, Designo Package (not sure what those are but it's in the listing).
No issues (according to seller)
Other option is a 1998 528i, but that's for another forum. Any ideas or questions I should look into would be great. Thanks in advance.

Also, check if those cars have the SBC system another item to watch

I have edited the answer to remove the reference to the M272 (E350). The E320 uses the M112 (a different engine)

This place is a joke.
Plenty of 211's to be had around $5k, with high miles. The hard part will be finding one that doesn't need $5k worth of repairs. Expensive things to watch out for: Leaking fuel tanks $3000 repair; transmission life expectancy if it hasn't been maintained is about 150k miles.... 250k miles no problem if the fluid and filter has been changed every 40k miles. 4matic has more to go wrong at high miles...front CV axles, transfer case vibration, etc. Expect front end ball joints and bushings to need replacement if original parts. Engine mounts too.
