Fuse 44 keeps blowing
My 2005 E320CDI keeps blowing fuse 44. I disconnected the EGR and the Swirl flap motor and confirmed at the fuse box that the circuit has a direct short to ground. I have heard that this circuit also has the turbo actuator on it but this item supposedly rarely goes wrong and no one I have yet seem had this item cause a short. I am guessing this is a harness fault. This means the slow and painful process of either finding the damages area or replacing the harness. Has anyone had a similar issue and how was it resolved? Any good ideas on where to start looking for the short?
Thanks

Unplug every component on that circuit, then connect the digital multimeter lead to the component side of the fuse (that other is the battery voltage), and the other lead to the ground. Then set the multimeter to beep when there's a continuity. So if and when there's a short to ground, it should have constant sound. Then just start pulling the harness and when the sound goes away, you are close.

It should have been obvious, but your idea of pulling on the harness as I am testing with the meter is a smart one. I am working on it tomorrow. If I find the location I will take some pictures and post here so that others don't need to do the hunting around that is in my immediate future.
