E320 E500 Disable / Delete EGR

Just out curiosity, but does anyone know how to disable EGR via STAR?

i know the E320 CDI guys are able to buy a tune and have it coded out/disabled, but I don’t feel like spending the money on a tune for a winter beater E320.

In my E55 AMG I was able to remove secondary air and code it out with STAR with ease, so I’m assuming disabling EGR should be just as easy.

I hear there's a whole lot of programming that has to be done to code out an EGR on a gas engine. All the fuel maps have to be redone. In the gas engines, the EGR isn't the problem that it is on the diesel engines. I'd just leave it. If I had a diesel, I'd be deleting it, for sure, but I'm in Canada, and I can do those kinds of things without the EPA pounding on my door.

Why would you want to? There is literally no downside to EGR in a gas engine and it improves fuel economy.

Oh so technically a tune WOULD be necessary then? Reason I ask is because EGR is throwing a code on my car and rather than replacing what I don’t even care about, I figured it would just be most logical to code out - but if the mapping is different that would definitely changes things a bit lol.

Mainly because mines throwing a code, so I figured why spend money replacing/cleaning when it could possibly just be “turned off” like the SAI on my E55.
