How do you like TV Tuner in US?

Steve will be doing a Euro Comand swap for me in November.....

I was considering spending some money on getting the TV Tuner option also...

Has anyone in the US got this done and how do you like it?

I was considering the same for my W211 but I met an owner of a silver 2003 CLK430 Cabrio and according to him, his setup is currently a major disappointment and headache.

But that's a W208 though... but also I don't think I want to risk it.

He is getting his system reconfigured back to stock.

I have it, it works fine, and use it. Most people who get it think it is worthwhile, although some find it doesn't suit their needs at the price it costs.

It's pretty subjective.

don't bother installing TV tunner. You will need antenna amp with TV support and radio performance will change since antenna amp is tunned/ tweeked for USA.
There is no such a thing like USA antenna amp with TV.

There are two choices here...

1) Live with reduced AM/FM performance. I guess I have this, but since all my AM/FM stations come in perfectly, I guess I won't have a problem living with it. Also my satellite radio gets used quite a bit more, so AM/FM reliance is diminished.

2) Use an aftermarket antenna. This is cheaper and easier anyhow, and my CLK has this since I did not have COMAND from the factory, and the OEM antenna would be far too involved and costly a modification. No problems.

Or, should I still not have bothered installing TV tuners in three of my cars?

Hey now, we new CDI people with the panorama roof need to figure out how to retrofit the solar panel. We've lost every other at-rest thermal management mechanism. To wit:

- REST function
- rear side blinds
- power rear sunshade
- solar panel

It's not "command", but COMAND! (Coc*pit Management and Navigation Display). (Sorry for the *. The correct word is sensored on this board. Glad that we don't discuss aircrafts here)

Actually, what management of the cokcpit is done on the comand unit if it were not equipped with nav? None as far as I can see. cokcpit management is more done by the steering wheel controls & dash display. Soe perhaps the name acronym was devised so that they wouldnt have to call it a ... radio.

Notice how ez it is to fool a software censor!

So,
The COMAND head unit must be replaced with the euro spec model to get DVD AND the TV tuner must be added to get the TV part?

Could be worse. I used to spend time on the W211 forum at Benzworld.org when it was more active, and posted a link there to a thread here. Benzworld.org censored "mbworld.org" from the link I posted.
