M113 tuning

I was just thinking for gas prices the way they are about how to get more fuel efficiency from the e500 wagon. Legit street cars on youtube made videos of a corvette that he had a lean burn mode in certain speed ranges that gave him 40 MPG. So, I was wondering if it would be possible to tune the ECU on the E500 could be tuned to have a lean burn mode in the 80-130 KM/H speeds with the cruise control activated. About 85% of the driving I do is on the highway at around 110km/h with cruise control. So, I think a tuning map that allowed that could work if it's possible to do a tune like that in the ECU.

Ride a bike when possible, car pool, combine trips. You'll save a lot more gas that way than trying to modify the car.

Impractical for me. I live very literally in the middle of nowhere.
