Mercedes E 2004 w211
what can the problem be? And what the different types of faults can be cause by?
The key wont turn in the ignition or open the doors!!!! We had the shop replace the key. The keywont turn and the lock does not disengage. They (mechanics) checked all the circuits and no idea why its not starting or responding to the car. ANY ONE have any ideas??????? Battery checked, key’s both all fine.

Was there any issues before the key was replaced? If not, I suspect that key is not coded with the EIS (ignition lock). Or the EIS itself is broken.

Sounds like an EIS problem. Very common for Mercedes. There are companies out there that will repair EIS. Several on eBay. Otherwise could be thousands at the dealer.

How does second key react, no second key shop should have pulled fault codes before replacing key. Check fuse f65 @ front SAM (engine compartment) if it is fine; blown and blows again after replacing as suggested could be EIS, or more commonly ESL: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post8293665 you need to have them revisit to clear and pull codes again before replacing additional parts.
