Airmatic failure!

Has anyone had the same problem?

I started the car, and got the malfunction: 'Car too low, Please stop'
And the front right side of my car was very low, almost touching the tyres.

I sent it to the dealer yesterday evening, I hope they can fix it by today.

Sounds like the seal is broken and leaked. This is the reason I am thinking about the extended warranty..

Does anyone know what the expected life of the Airmatic "bags" themselves is? The M-B version of air suspension is far from the first air suspension on the road, so there must be some track record as to how long the "bags" will last. And what material are they made of, in terms of resistance to puncture? I once had a gas tank punctured by an unknown object that my tire flipped up from the road, so the question isn't entirely hypothetical.

The Airmatic failed (left rear) on my first 03 E500, but it was within the week my replacement was scheduled to arrive so I just drove it that way. It would actually rise a bit during operation, but would drop down with the fender well below tire level once parked in the garage for a while. I haven't had any problems with the replacement.

(post has nothing to do with the above people, just a random thought)

I love it when people blame airmatic failures on the hardware lowering solutions in the market. It's like finding an easy scapegoat. I've seen more stock Airmatic/ABC systems fail than one's that have been lowered.
