Help! Trunk will not close/latch!

00' W210 E55 (sold), 07' W211 E63
Help! Trunk will not close/latch!
Please help! Trunk will not close. Latch stays in open position. I tried the screwdriver trick, lubricating, etc. Nothing works. When I press the button, you can hear the mechanism working properly. I also tried the manually locking it with the key but I couldn't get that to work either. This has never happened before and was working fine yesterday. Any ideas?
