W211 Rear air bags and shocks??
I'm having the rear air bags in my 2003 e 500 replaced, next week. My question is "Do I have regular shock absorbers there also" ? I thought my W211 with airmatic didn't have conventional shocks, just air bags doing all the work. Please chime in. THANKS for you comments.

W211s with Airmatics have both an air spring and a shock absorber. When my rear air springs leaked, I had them replaced with Arnott units and have been perfect since then. I also replaced the shock absorbers with Bilstein part# 19-050027. Seems there is a new part # 20-101893. If you have the original shock absorbers since 2003, I highly recommend replacing them while you are in there swapping the rear air spring.

Thanks!! I guess I might be replacing those rear shocks too. Are they the electric type, or just some sort of regular shock, I don't see any sort of electrical connection there, or is that damping valve part of the shock?

Not a normal shock, search MB # 2113260100 for genuine or compatible aftermarket i.e: Bilstein # 19-050027 https://cart.bilsteinus.com/
