I know theres about a million threads talking about 722.6 transmission problems but i cant fins one that really covers the problems om having.
My Mercedes w211 220cdi -07 722.640 drops into neutral while driving on D, it all started when I had to avoid hitting a moose and instead hit the ditch fortunatly the car didnt take any damage. I even had usch speed that the car managed to jump back up on the road, but when i tried to accelerate it just revved so I restarted the car and I was good to go. But just a few days later I scraped on a speed bump and suddenly I lost drive again. So I just restarted the car again and drove of but I didnt come more than a few meters until it dropped the gear again. Ive scanned the fault codes which and got these codes:
Ive tried changing the transmission oil, filter, connector plug, made sure the oilcooler wasnt clogged. I would like to ad that the abs/esp lights are on. The rear right wheel I changed the abs sensor since the preveuis owner told me that was faulty but it didnt help. I would also like to ad that I have a sparetire on the right rear wheel with a slighty smaller diameter than rest of the wheels on the car.
So im wondering if maybe that has something to do with the transmission problems. And im also wondering if there are different kinds of limp modes? Because my transmission doesnt get stuck in the second gear but instead just ”drops” into neutral. But if I put it in P and turn of the car and wait a few seconds it drives a couple of meters.
It's usually not the abs sensor, it's usually the magnetic ring that went bad. Replace the ring also. Make sure to use OEM MB parts some aftermarkets don't work right. Also be careful with the ring, too far in or out and it won't work right either. Don't know about your transmission problem but it could be related to the bad reading on the sensor. Also the connector on the transmission tends to wick up fluid so changing the connector is also common on the 722.6 transmission.
