Radio doesnt power on with ignition
Hi all,
Vehicle is a facelift 2007 W211 E350 - has had this issue since purchasing a couple of years ago and finally getting around to trying to resolve it.
I've removed it however can't see anything tampered with or looking wrong, but according to some youtube videos it seems I might be missing a white/blue wire??
I'm happy to go purchase an aftermarket unit but not convinced it's the HU itself. Any help or things to look for would be appreciated!
SYMPTOMS:
1. Previous owner says they replaced HU.
2. Head unit works fine (radio, gps) but only powers on/off with button not with ignition.
3. Steering controls work for Instrument cluster but not for radio.
4. CD opening door doesn’t work (button under hazards).

Audio that didn’t work intermittently in my ‘06 Two-elemon ended up being a fuse with surface corrosion at the driver’s A pillar. A test light showed power through the fuse but intermittently power didn’t get to audio.

The main issue is that the unit doesn't power on with Ignition.
Interesting to note the "10-2003" text on the yellow sticker in the first photo. It does make me wonder if its an older unit and if this may be the cause?

I have the exact same issue, I am pulling my hair out over this. I've replaced my battery, AGW, CD Changer, Head unit. None of it seems to fix the issue. I read somewhere that the issue may be due to the software between the head unit and AGW might not be up to date or on compatible software. I don't have SDS but my last resort is to go to a local indy shop and have them scan it. My scanner at home cannot even establish communication with the AGW...

Sorry to hear you have the same issue.
I haven't taken mine to an indy shop yet but I reckon it's to do with the CANBUS as all of the symptoms are controlled by that. That's about where my thought process ends
