2007 E Class Passenger CV axle replacement

Hey I have a left side driver 2007 e350 4matic. I am trying to replace the cv axle but for some reason I cant locat the size of the bolt connecting to the axle through the tire mount. I bought an entire mechanic kit just to change it but none of my sockets fit over this bolt. If you have any experience or can locate a video showing me what to do please point me in the right directiono. I am tired of the heavy clicking and clunking when I am turning. Tow truck company towed my car and when I picked it up from the tow yard the cv boot was complete missing. I have the replace OEM axle cost me about $150 but I dont think I have the right tools or tool set. my socket wrench doesnt work, Nothing fits. 25mm 26mm 27 mm wont fit. Do I need a breaker bar? or e torx or what if so what size should I go and purchase today. I am ready to fix my benz. I have officialed had it for 1 year today and I have repaired everything else. Nothing major but this is the biggest piece. I've changed the radiator hose, the reservior hose to the expansion for coolant, replaced the expansion tank, new battery, replaced the windshield wiper pump, replace the washer for the pano sunroof, restored the dvd navigation in the trunk. replaced the head lights and passenger fender. Now the axle is the last thing I have to do and I have about a 4 day window before I have to return to work and I need to get this done. Please help!!!! not a mechanic but Im sure it cant be that hard. Just need to know what size ratchet or breaker bar I may need.

According to this: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...eplacement.htm there's a 27 mm bolt. Do you have hex head bolt there? Just googled around, and apparently W212 has a E24 head bolt there. If the 27 mm won't fit, has someone been there and changed the bolt to a newer style?

no it isnt a hex head bolt. I looks more like an e torq but this bolt or screw Ive never seen. I has about 12 or 16 points on it and my hex wrench doesn't fit

Oh, I see. That's a XZN / triple square head. Tried to find a picture that shows how to measure one, but could not find it.

edit/ Found it.

Well, you'll need to get the correct XZN socket to remove the old bolt.

As others said, it's normally a 27mm bolt. Maybe they did something strange on the 2007. Also keep the old axle in case the new one causes a vibration. Very common with aftermarket axles. They do sell an axle boot kit, but you probably also need the joint as that's probably why you have a clicking noise so the boot kit won't be enough. You could bring the axle/boot kit/joint to a mechanic to have them swap it for you, not that easy to do on a DIY. Also getting the joint out of the transmission can be tricky too, you can get a 3" muffler clamp and clamp that on to the end of the axle by the transmission and tap on that to get the axle out.
